Data Analytics


Year Up's Data Analytics curriculum provides students with basic skills in programming, databases, software development fundamentals and business intelligence. Students are exposed to problem solving techniques such as algorithms, flow-charts and decision trees; concepts and processes such as version control, Agile development, software development roles and environments, introductory programming, relational database terminology, database design tools; and techniques to create, update and query databases, big data concepts, business intelligence, and data visualization and reporting techniques.

  • Utilize techniques for reporting (e.g. charts, graphs and heat maps)
  • Leverage Excel to load, clean, and organize data; make business-related inferences about data utilizing Excel data analysis tools
  • Understand key terminology such as NoSQL databases and extract-Transform-load (ETL)
  • Utilize Excel, PowerPoint and data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau or Power BI) to develop and present reports that demonstrate effective storytelling with data
