We’re stronger together.
Year Up United’s mission is deeply rooted in a commitment to economic opportunity for all and reshaping the world of work so that it works for everyone, not just a select few.
That’s why we are dedicated to cultivating an environment where students, staff, and supporters can feel they belong. Belonging is more than making room for people—it’s about creating a culture where everyone inherently knows they have a place.
What Belonging Means to Us
Belonging at Year Up United means everyone is aligned with our mission and is engaged in the intentional, ongoing practice of building and sustaining an environment where all can feel seen, heard, and valued. We see belonging as an active process intricately woven into every interaction, propelled by collaboration, co-creation, and shared leadership.
As an organization that is focused on equipping talent—regardless of income, background, or zip code—with the skills needed to launch careers, belonging is a powerful connecting force that can inspire individuals with varied perspectives and identities to participate in and contribute to the skills-first movement. It also allows us to acknowledge and celebrate our differences because belonging does not require us to be the same. By fostering a culture of belonging at Year Up United, individuals are encouraged to be authentic, engage meaningfully in purposeful work, and work collaboratively to close the Opportunity Divide.

We believe that when we take the time to listen to one another — sharing individual stories and viewpoints — we build trust, understanding, and respect for perspectives and experiences that differ from our own.
We strive to create space for these conversations in our community and to apply what we learn to effectively close the Opportunity Divide.
