How you can become a Year Up student

We encourage you to apply early as space is limited and we make Admissions decisions on a rolling basis.

North Campus (Alpharetta-North Fulton)

Step 1: Submit an Interest Form

Take a minute to let us know you’re interested in applying and select Alpharetta, GA as your preferred location: FILL OUT AN INTEREST FORM ONLINE.

After you complete your Interest Form, you will receive an email with the next steps for applying to Gwinnett Technical College, including how to complete your placement tests and submit a FAFSA. These are all crucial steps in your application to our program.

Step 2: Attend an Information Session

We are located on-campus at Gwinnett Technical College’s Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus: 2875 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta, GA, 30009.

Step 3: Complete a Year Up Application

Step 4: Interview

After completing the Information Session along with Gwinnett Technical College’s application processes, you will attend a One-on-One interview. Interviews take place Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Please adjust your schedule accordingly

Step 5: Receive Status Letter

Receive an emailed Status Letter within two weeks after your interview!

Midtown Campus (Atlanta)

Step 1: Submit an Interest Form

Take 5 minutes to let us know you’re interested in applying and select Atlanta, GA as your preferred location: FILL OUT AN INTEREST FORM ONLINE.

Step 2: Attend an Information Session

Check the next available date for an In-Person Information Session and REGISTER HERE.

We are located at 730 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 900, Atlanta, GA 30308. We are a block from the Fox Theatre as well as accessible via the North Ave. Marta Station.

Step 3: Attend an Academic Assessment

After completing the Information Session, you will be emailed a link to register for an Academic Assessment session. Be sure to check your email.

If you would like to be exempt from the Academic Assessment, please bring in copies of your test scores.

Accepted test scores to be exempt from our Academic Assessment are:

  • SAT:
    • Verbal 430
    • Math 400
  • ACT:
    • Reading 15
    • Math 17
    • English 17
  • COMPASS: 
    • Reading: 70
    • Math: 37
    • Writing: 38

You are required to come dressed in business professional attire to all Year Up events. Be prepared to take notes and arrive early as late arrivals may be rescheduled.

Step 4: Complete an Application
