Mike Corkery, President and CEO of Deltek, and Cary Hatch, CEO at MDB Communications, to Help Grow Year Up NCR

(PRWEB) August 09, 2016 – Continuing to scale its innovative and effective approach to workforce development, Year Up National Capital Region (NCR) announced today that Mike Corkery, President and CEO of Deltek, and Cary Hatch, CEO of MDB Communications, have joined its Local Board of Directors.
Year Up NCR is a nonprofit job-training program that provides urban young adults with six months of technical and professional training, followed by a six-month internship at top companies like Deltek.
“We’re thrilled to have Michael and Cary join our board and provide their expertise in strengthening our position in the DC market,” said Guylaine Saint Juste, Executive Director of Year Up NCR. “They know what growing companies are looking for in terms of skilled entry-level talent, and will help us communicate the value of our young adults to even more organizations the Greater Washington Region”
As Deltek’s CEO, Corkery leads more than 2,300 employees that deliver enterprise software and solutions to 22,000+ customers around the globe including many of the world’s largest government contracting and professional services firms. He has held a variety of senior financial and operational executive positions for leading technology companies.
“Deltek has been partnering with Year Up since 2011, and I’ve seen first-hand just how talented and motivated these young adults are,” said Corkery. “I’m excited to join Year Up NCR’s board to connect even more young adults in need of an opportunity with companies in need of talent.”
With more than 30 years of experience in advertising and marketing, Hatch has led business and consumer communications initiatives for organizations including National Geographic, Fannie Mae, Destination DC, International Spy Museum, Sprint and many others.
“Year Up NCR addresses two critical issues – the skills gap and the Opportunity Divide – by redefining where talent comes from and what it looks like,” said Hatch. “I’m delighted to join Year Up NCR’s board to help more low-income young men and women launch exciting careers in IT and finance.”
Year Up NCR currently serves more than 320 students each year. Since its launch in 2006, the site has helped nearly 2,000 young adults (ages 18-24, without college degrees) gain in-demand technical, professional and communication skills in Information Technology and Financial Operations. Nationwide, 85 percent of Year Up graduates are employed or attending college full-time within four months of completing the yearlong program, with an average starting salary of $36,000/year.
