Markus Fischer

Strategist, Office of the Chairman, Goldman Sachs & Co

Markus currently works in Goldman Sachs’ Office of the Chairman where he works on the client strategy of the CEO of the firm. Prior to this role, he was in the Industrials Investment Banking team where he provided M&A and Corporate Finance advice.

Markus has over eight years of corporate and project finance experience, having worked previously at GDF Suez and Deloitte in London, Dubai and Paris. He earned a Master’s in Computer Science from I.N.S.A. de Lyon in France, a Master’s in Strategic Management from HEC Paris and obtained his MBA from Columbia Business School, graduating top of his class on a full tuition scholarship. While at Columbia, he was the recipient of the New York Alumni award, the Suresh Balaraman Prize for Excellence in Finance and the William J. Heffernan Memorial Award for service.

Over the course of his career, Markus has benefited from numerous mentors that provided him guidance and opportunities to succeed. He hopes that he too will be able to be a positive force for change through his work with Year Up New York and the New York Leadership Council.
