It all starts here.
We all have something that drives us to be our best. Turn your passion into a plan, and join us for a breakout year of career growth.
How To Apply
Below are the basic steps for applying. The application process may vary slightly in your area. But don’t worry, we’re always here to help you along the way.
STEP 1: Attend Your Info Session
We know our program is different than the norm. That’s why we want to make sure you understand all we offer and how far Year Up can take you. Take the first step. Join us for an info session online or in-person.
STEP 2: Complete Application
Submit application and supporting documents. Documents include proof of high school diploma or GED, work history, proof of ability to work in the U.S. (we welcome DACA), references, and a brief personal essay. We’ll provide the application after your info session.
STEP 3: Academic Review
The academic review and assessment help our career and education experts understand your starting point so that we can support your learning and professional development in the best way possible.
STEP 4: Attend Your Interview
We want to hear about you. Why are you interested in Year Up? What motivates you? How can we help you overcome any obstacle to your success in our program? Knowing our students is the first step in giving them the best training possible.
STEP 5: Enroll In College
If applying to a college-based Year Up program, you need to also apply and enroll with our college partner and complete the FAFSA form to secure financial aid. We can help with the details, but suggest you start these applications along with your Year Up application.
STEP 6: Your “Year Up” Begins
If accepted, your year of learning valuable technical and professional skills begins. You can look forward to career training, courses eligible for college credit, stipend payments, a corporate internship, a professional mentor, and our ongoing support.
How you can become a Year Up student
We encourage you to apply early as space is limited, and we make Admissions decisions on a rolling basis. The first steps for our program are the same for both of our sites: Midtown and Atlanta Technical College. We will work collaboratively with you following the Information Session to understand which location will be the best fit for your goals.
Step 1: Submit an Interest Form
Take 1-2 minutes to let us know you’re interested in applying and select Atlanta, GA as your preferred location: FILL OUT AN INTEREST FORM ONLINE.
Step 2: Attend an Information Session
After submitting your Interest Form, you will have an opportunity to schedule an Information Session, and whether you choose to complete that Information Session in-person at one of our sites or online, we’ll make sure that you know what the year ahead will hold for you.
Completing the Information Session ensures that you are eligible for the next steps in the process, including taking ACCUPLACER (our Academic Assessment) and/or scheduling a one-on-one interview with a member of our team.
Step 3: Attend an Academic Assessment OR Submit Test Scores
After completing the Information Session, you will be emailed a link to register for an Academic Assessment session. Be sure to check your email.
If you would like to be exempt from the Academic Assessment, please bring in copies of your test scores or send them to email@example.com for our review.
Minimum test scores required to be exempt from our Academic Assessment include:
- Old SAT (through February 2016):
- Verbal: 430
- Math: 400

You are required to come dressed in business professional attire to all Year Up events following the Information Session. If professional attire is a challenge, do your best and be sure to let your interviewer know that this is an area where you need support when you attend your interview. Be prepared to take notes and arrive early as late arrivals may be rescheduled.
Step 4: Interview
Attend a one-on-one interview (for applicants who pass the Academic Assessment). Interviews take place Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Please adjust your schedule accordingly. We will provide a link for you to schedule an interview time that works best for you once you pass the Academic Assessment or submit passing test scores.
We conduct interviews on-location at both our Midtown and Atlanta Technical College sites, so it is important that you pay attention to the location that you have chosen when you schedule your appointment to ensure that you are prepared to show up for your interview ready to earn your Year Up!
Step 5: Receive Status Letter
Receive an emailed Status Decision within one week of your interview!
