Year Up National Capital Region (NCR) is a one-year, intensive training program that provides low-income young adults, ages 18-24, with a combination of hands-on skills development, coursework eligible for college credit, corporate internships, and wraparound support. We opened our doors in February of 2006 serving 2,400 students to date. Over 33,000 young adults in the National Capital Region area do not have access to livable wage careers or higher education, and our students and graduates have proven that these young adults are capable of adding immediate value to local companies. We are working hard to close the Opportunity Divide in this community.
Year Up National Capital Region launched their first campus in February 2006. Students at this location receive coaching and skill development in the following track specialties: Frontline Sales, Quality Assurance, and Project Management Support.
Year Up National Capital Region launched a Professional Training Corps (PTC) in August 2015 on the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). As college students, our young adults have access to the library, tutoring resources, and other services offered by the college, in addition to the services offered by Year Up. As students work toward completing a degree at NOVA Woodbridge, Year Up PTC provides them with professional development and work experience, preparing graduates to launch a meaningful career. The track specialties at this campus are Cyber Security, Business Fundamentals, Helpdesk/Desktop Support.
Year Up National Capital Region is launching their third campus in January 2019 in partnership with Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). Students at this location receive coaching and skill development in the Helpdesk/Desktop Support specialties. As students work toward a degree at NOVA, they will also develop the work experience and network they need for Helpdesk/Desktop Support careers.
