John Galante

John Galante joined Year Up in 2017 as a senior advisor to the corporate engagement team.

Previously, he was the CIO for the consumer and business banking divisions of JP Morgan Chase. In this capacity, Galante was responsible for setting and implementing the technology strategy that transformed Chase branches to a client-focused self-directed digital environment.

Prior to that role, he was the CIO for the Chase Wealth Management business where he led the largest retail brokerage conversion in the history of the industry.

During his tenure at JP Morgan Chase, Galante was also the executive sponsor of the JP Morgan Chase / Year Up partnership. Through this partnership, JP Morgan Chase hosted over 800 Year Up interns and converted over 200 of the interns to JP Morgan Chase employees.

Geoffrey Gold (Chair)

Geoffrey is the Managing Member and founder of Silver Salar Capital, LLC a private investment and consulting firm.  Currently Geoffrey splits his time between his private investment responsibilities and various charitable organizations. From 2007 through 2012 Mr. Gold was a founder and portfolio manager at Normandy Hill Capital.  Normandy Hill was a hedge fund manager specializing in distressed and event-driven investing.  He has deep roots in the global distressed and event-driven investment business going back to 1988.  Previously Geoffrey was an Original Member and Partner of Strategic Value Partners (“SVP”), a $5.0 billion hedge fund and private equity platform, which originated with $100 million in total capital.  He joined SVP in March 2001 and left as of January 2007.  His primary responsibility was trading distressed products, and he also focused on portfolio management and global deal origination for distressed and private equity transactions.

Prior to SVP, Geoffrey spent 14 years at ING Barings in global distressed and special situations investing.  From 1997 to April 2000, he was Co-Head of global distressed and special situations investments, and was jointly responsible for a 26-person team managing a $1.1 billion portfolio in a variety of strategies including distressed debt, credit arbitrage and equity special situations.  From 1994 to 1997, he lived in London and ran the European and Asian distressed and special situations businesses.  He was a key player in establishing ING’s original distressed investment effort in the U.S. in 1990.  He has been an active volunteer and supporter of educationally based organizations throughout his career including the Colgate University Alumni Council from 2004-2010, Fiver organization, NYU Stern School of Business, The Akilah Institute and most recently as a mentor for Year Up.  Mr. Gold graduated Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Colgate University with a B.A. in International Relations and German in 1986.  He received an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 1991 and has appeared as a guest lecturer for Prof. Edward I. Altman in his Corporate Bankruptcy & Reorganization course.

Peter Drittel

Peter Drittel joined Titan Advisors in August, 2016 as Chief Chief Investment Officer Officer.  Mr. Drittel is an experienced hedge fund industry/Wall Street executive with a 30+ year track record managing Global Macro and Emerging Markets portfolios; and recruiting, managing and developing portfolio management, research and other buy-side and sell-side talent.   Prior to joining Titan, he spent close to twenty years as a hedge fund Portfolio Manager at Tudor Investment Corporation (where he was a Partner, a member of the Management Committee and the founder of its Emerging Markets effort), Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisors, Diamondback Capital and Kingdon Capital.  Prior to entering the hedge fund industry, Mr. Drittel founded and co-headed Bear Stearns’ Emerging Markets Department.  Mr. Drittel served as Senior Advisor to the Founder and CEO of Incapture Investments LLC; and currently serves as Advisory Board Member of SAIS (Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies) and as Board Member of The Chatham House Foundation, Inc.  He previously served on the Boards of Bear Stearns Companies, Outward Bound USA and the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.  Mr. Drittel has graduate degrees from the Wharton School (MBA, Finance) and from SAIS (MA, International Economics and Latin American Studies), and received his BA degree in Public Policy from Tulane University.

Eve Guernsey

Eve Guernsey retired in October 2010 from the position of Chief Executive Officer of JP Morgan Investment Management Americas, a position she held since 2002. She was responsible for strategy development and management of the Institutional Asset Management business, serving pension funds, endowments, and foundations; JP Morgan Funds, the proprietary mutual funds business that serves both retail and high net worth clients; Global Liquidity, providing multi-currency cash management products to institutions worldwide and Retirement Plan Services, a defined contribution and defined benefit record keeper and administrator to US retirement plans.

Eve chaired the Executive Committee for Investment Management Americas and was a member of the Operating Committee of JP Morgan’s Asset Management division. She also served on the Executive Committee of JP Morgan Chase and was a member of the board of directors for the JP Morgan Chase Foundation where she chaired the foundation’s Investment Committee and served on the Audit Committee.

During her career with JP Morgan’s Asset Management division, Eve held a number of leadership roles. From 1996 to 2002, she worked in Institutional Asset Management, rising to head that business in 1999. From 1992 until 1996 she led JP Morgan’s US proprietary mutual fund group, the JP Morgan Mutual Funds. Eve joined JP Morgan directly after graduating from Smith College in 1977 and during her first fifteen years with the company, held a succession of roles within JP Morgan’s Private Client Group where she worked with high net worth clients and families, bringing to bear the various services JP Morgan offered including generational planning, investment management, investment management, lending and brokerage for her clients.

Eve attended the Kellogg School of Management’s program on Corporate Governance: Effectiveness and Accountability in the Boardroom in November 2010.

Eve joined the mutual fund board that oversees the Lord, Abbett mutual fund complex in January, 2011where she chairs the Audit Committee. She joined the Advisory Board of Silver Lane Advisors, LLC in September 2011, a firm focused on mergers and acquisition advisory work in the wealth management sector. In May 2012 Eve joined the board of Waypoint Capital Holdings, an investment management firm specializing in financial and entrepreneurial investment services and the board of one of its subsidiary in May 2013, the Northill Capital Holdings (Jersey) a global investment management firm.

She and her husband live in New York City with their daughter.

Phil Schneidermeyer is a Former Partner in the New York office of Heidrick & Struggles specializing in the recruitment of Chief Information and Chief Technology Officers across all industry sectors. Previously, Phil led the Chief Information Officer Practice for Highland Partners and founded an information technology and engineering boutique executive search firm.

Earlier, Phil was a Managing Director at another global executive search firm where he served as the Chief Information Officer Practice Leader and was a member of the firm’s Advanced Technology Practice. He was also a member of the Americas Operating Group and served as Chairman of the Information Technology Committee.

Prior to his executive search career, Phil was an Economist with a Hartford-based consulting firm focused on the Connecticut economy and commercial real estate markets.

Phil currently serves on the Advisory Board for Year Up New York. He is also a contributor to CIO Magazine’s “Hiring Manager” column and serves as a judge for the Annual CIO 100 Awards.

Phil earned his BA in Business Administration and later was awarded a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Connecticut.

Growing from just a handful of students in 2005, A-List now serves more than 80,000 students across the US and around the world. The company works with more than 700 high schools and nonprofit organizations, including KIPP, the Harlem Children’s Zone, the Fulbright Commission, and Year Up (where Scott serves as the Chair of the NY Leadership Council) – providing everything from professional development and direct instruction to sophisticated assessment platforms and curriculum alignment. Scott has more than 12,000 hours of instructional experience, working with thousands of students and teachers to improve post secondary outcomes.

Scott was lucky enough to attend Harvard University on a scholarship, and then serve as CFO of a development project in Ecuador funded by the British Embassy. These experiences left him with a deep appreciation for education not just as what traditionally happens in the four walls of a classroom but as a set of skills necessary to succeed in the wider world. Jemi Shieh

Reinette Ross (Chair – Class 6), currently serves as the Site Operations Manager for Year Up New York. Reinette is a graduate of Year Up New York Class 6 and received the David E. Retik Award for Excellence at graduation. Reinette strives to be a leader and teammate at Year Up. In this role, she provides administrative support to a staff of 80+ people and monthly financial management for the site. At Year Up, she has learned how to provide a high level of support while empowering others with the tools needed to do their jobs exceedingly well. Since graduating in 2010, she has been a very active member of the Year Up New York Alumni Association. Remi Gonzalez (Treasurer – Class 10) is a Class 10 alumnus and a Senior Operations Analyst at DTCC. Remi is currently engaged in a pursuit of discovery, excellence, and self-improvement. Before Year Up, he dropped out of college and worked a dead end job. With a new baby on the way, he had a wakeup call and found Year Up. After graduating from Year Up, Remi enrolled in college, became a full-time associate for one of the world’s largest investment firms, and worked his way up to a senior analyst. He now leads a team that helps develop professional skills for a department of 200 employees and facilitates monthly classes aimed at bolstering both hard and soft skills. Remi enjoys helping his daughter learn the importance of creating a strong foundation in education and work ethic—and she makes sure he doesn’t goof off. Remi to holds Year Up’s mission close to his heart having had first-hand experience in the program. Remi has two brothers who graduated from Year Up and his fiancé and sister-in-law are soon too be alumnae. Year Up has become an essential part of his family.
