Russell Investments first became involved with Year Up Puget Sound as a corporate partner in 2013. Since then the company has hosted seven Year Up Deskside Support Interns in their IT Department and has been a champion to our organization.

Mohamed Awo, Year Up’s most recent Russell Investments intern said, “At Russell my team was always there to support me, I was challenged each and every day and my supervisor made an effort to delegate work to me. I was able to network with other Russell employees on a daily basis and I gained many customer service and desktop support skills.”

Eric Randall, Russell Investments’ Desktop Support Supervisor, has worked closely with Year Up interns for six cycles now. Eric said, “one of the things that I really enjoy about working with Year Up interns is the degree of professionalism they bring into the workplace.  Excellent business manners, always look you in the eye during a discussion, and that trickles down to their user interactions. That level of professionalism goes a long way in putting the end user into a positive frame of mind, making them feel like their concerns are being treated with respect and urgency.”

Russell Investments’ commitment to the community is a core value that works to help improve the quality of life for people in their cities and neighborhoods, particularly in the areas of Health and Human Services, Education, Civic Improvement and Arts and Culture.

Russell has not only supported Year Up Puget Sound as a corporate partner, they have also been active through volunteerism over the past 3 years. Many Russell Investments’ employees volunteer their time as mentors, working one-on-one with Year Up students to offer professional guidance and support. Russell has also hosted groups of students at their office, providing them a chance to practice their networking skills.

This year Russell Investments has continued to be a champion by hosting a clothing drive for Year Up that helps to provide professional clothing resources to Year Up students. Russell will also be the Presenting Sponsor at Year Up Puget Sound’s 2016 Professional Olympics event on October 19 at the Skybridge at the Washington State Convention Center. We thank them for their continued commitment to our organization and to our students.
