How you can become a Year Up student

Classes begin in January and August. Applications are considered on a rolling basis until the class is filled. We encourage you to apply early as space is limited.

Step 1: Submit an Interest Form

Take a moment to let us know you’re interested in applying. Fill out an interest form online or at our office.

Step 2: Visit our site

Come by and see what we’re all about! Year Up Baltimore is located at Baltimore City Community College, 2600 Liberty Heights Avenue – South Pavilion – 3rd Floor, Baltimore, MD 21215. We look forward to seeing you!

Information sessions are a mandatory step in the admissions process and are held on the following days and times:
Monday – Thursday 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m.
Monday – Thursday 3:00p.m. to 4:30p.m.

Step 3: Submit an Application

Your application will need to include:

  • Application
  • Personal essay
  • References
  • Copy of high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Official high school transcripts
  • Proof of citizenship

Step 4: Interviews

If you are qualified, our staff will invite you in for an interview. You will need to arrive on time and dress professionally.

Applicants who are accepted to Year Up will be notified via phone or mail. A confirmation of acceptance will be expected from the candidates within two weeks of the date of their letter of acceptance from Year Up.

An evaluation funded by the Institute of Education Sciences is being conducted to help us learn how well the Year Up PTC program is working to help participants.  Only applicants who, after learning about the study, are willing to participate will be eligible for enrollment in classes starting in August. Individuals who are eligible for the program and agree to participate in the study will be selected into the program based on a lottery.
