Ursula English is Vice President of Environment, Health & Safety for the Boeing Company, the world’s largest aerospace company. Appointed to this position in April 2014, English is responsible for leading Boeing’s environmental sustainability efforts, including continuously improving the environmental performance of its global operations, products and services, as well as leading Boeing’s workplace safety programs. English reports directly to John Tracy, Boeing chief technology officer and senior vice president of Engineering, Operations & Technology. English has held a wide variety of leadership roles at Boeing. Most recently, she was the director of Supplier Management for the Commercial Aviation Services (CAS) business of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. In this position, she was responsible for leading a complex extended supply chain, including contracting, supplier development, strategy development and performance. Prior to that assignment, she was director of Supplier Management on the 787 Dreamliner mid-body team at Boeing Commercial Airplanes. She has also served as a manufacturing superintendent on the 787 Dreamliner, and has managed teams in Intellectual Property Management and C-17 product support. English joined Boeing in 1988 as an aircraft mechanic on the MD-80 program in Long Beach, after serving in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. While working at Boeing she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from Azusa Pacific University and a master’s degree in Human Services from Springfield College. She also holds Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and power plant licenses.

Jacky Wright

Vice President of Microsoft IT Strategic Enterprise Services at Microsoft

Jacky Wright oversees all Microsoft IT Enterprise Services and Platforms. These services range from platforms such as SAP, AX, and SharePoint, to process services such as Quality & Business Excellence and Supplier Management. Her Strategic Enterprise Services IT (SES IT) organization drives product and operational excellence, agility, and customer centricity across the Company.

 

A major part of Jacky’s charter is to use the latest Microsoft pre-production software in high availability, 24×7 production environments, as part Microsoft IT’s First & Best Program. She uses these experiences to drive real-world feedback into Microsoft products and services before they are released to market. She ensures SES IT solutions and teams help validate and improve Microsoft offerings targeted at the Enterprise. The First & Best Program keeps her on the cutting edge and engaged with Microsoft’s product and business groups.

 

Before assuming her current role at Microsoft, Jacky was VP/CIO of Corporate Functions at BP. In that capacity she led all IT strategy, development and implementation for BP’s Corporate, Alternative Energy, and Shipping segments as well as Mergers and Acquisitions. Jacky brings more than 20 years of technical and business experience to Microsoft including CIO roles at GE and senior management roles at Accenture, AutoNation, and Ryder. She draws on extensive global experience in strategy, consulting, large scale program development, implementation, and management across a variety of industries.

 

As a trailblazer in the technology industry, and as one of the most senior level women of color in IT, Jacky is a strong advocate for women and minorities in technology and sciences. She dedicates significant time and energy to partnering with groups to promote this agenda.

 

Jacky enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Jacky holds a BBA in Computer Science and Accounting from City University of New York – Baruch College. She is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

John Stanton (Chair)

John Stanton is a founding member of Trilogy Partnership. John is a wireless industry pioneer, co-founding three of the top 10 wireless operators in the United States in the last 25 years. His involvement in the wireless industry began in 1982 when John helped found McCaw Cellular Communications, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman. By 1989, McCaw had grown to be the largest wireless operator in the US and in 1994 was sold to form what is now AT&T Wireless.

 

Beginning in 1989, John formed a number of private entities that in 1994 were combined to form Western Wireless Corporation, where he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1989 to 2005. In addition to the company’s US operations, Western Wireless also operated wireless networks in eleven foreign countries in Europe, Africa, and South America. Western Wireless was the nation’s seventh largest independent wireless operator when it was acquired by Alltel Corporation in August 2005 in a transaction valued at $6.2 billion.

VoiceStream Wireless, which was formed as a subsidiary of Western Wireless in 1995, was John’s third wireless endeavor. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company from 1995-2001. VoiceStream spun off as a public company in May of 1999 and was sold to Deutsche Telecom for $50.7 billion in 2001. Deutsche Telecom subsequently changed the name to T-Mobile USA. John served as Chairman and CEO of T-Mobile USA from 2001-2003.

 

In 2006, John and several colleagues formed Trilogy Partnership, a private equity fund that invests in exciting, early stage growth opportunities in the wireless ecosystem, and Trilogy International Partners, a wireless operator in Central and South America and New Zealand.

 

John served as Chairman of national wireless associations three times, once each during the 1980’s representing McCaw, the 1990’s representing Western Wireless and 2000¬2001 representing VoiceStream/T-Mobile. He presently serves as a board member of Columbia Sportswear (NASDAQ: COLM). John also serves as a Trustee of Whitman College. A Seattle native, John graduated from Whitman College with a BA in Political Science. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Jon Runstad

Jon is the Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wright Runstad & Company, a leading commercial real estate development, investment and management organization. The company has developed over 14 million square feet of high quality office space over the past 39 years, including the highly acclaimed 1201 Third Avenue building and the renovation of the award winning 1200 12th building.

 

Jon is a trustee of the Downtown Seattle Association, a Director of the University of Washington Foundation, and a member of the University of Washington Board of Rowing Stewards, the Real Estate Forum and the Urban Land Institute.

 

Jon has also acted as a Director of the Benaroya Hall Music Center and the Seattle Symphony, and as a trustee of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. Jon served as a regent and president of the Board of Regents of the University of Washington, and was an Associate General Chairman for three separate United Way campaigns.

 

Before founding Wright Runstad & Company, he was a building economist with the Ministry of Public Building Works in London and a project manager developing properties with Cabot, Cabot & Forbes in Boston

Jon holds a BA in economics and a BS in building construction from the University of Washington, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Judy Runstad practices as counsel (former co-managing partner) with Foster Pepper, and has practiced in the areas of real estate development and land use and environmental law for more than 40 years. She has substantial experience representing clients in the areas of growth management, zoning, shoreline management, and regulatory matters. She serves on the Board of Directors of Wright Runstad & Company, a privately held commercial real estate developer/owner.

 

Ms. Runstad also serves on the board of directors of Wells Fargo & Company and Potlatch Corporation. She is a former Chairman of the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank and Director of SAFECO Corporation.

Her civic involvement includes serving on numerous boards of directors, including the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Seattle Association, the Washington Women’s Foundation, the Emeritus Board of the Alliance for Education and Year Up. She is the Past Chair of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, the Alliance for Education, the Downtown Seattle Association and the King County United Way Campaign. She co-chairs Foster Pepper’s Women Attorneys’ group, a group that meets monthly in an open forum to discuss current topics, trends and issues that impact women attorneys today.

 

Previously serving on the Governor’s High Speed Ground Transportation Commission and on the Governor’s Washington State Growth Strategies Commission, Ms. Runstad has served on five gubernatorial commissions. She is currently a member of the Governor’s Higher Education Funding Task Force. She is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and since the mid-1980s has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in American Women.

 

Most recently, she is the 2010 recipient of the UW School of Law Women’s Caucus Distinguished Alumnae Award, and is one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2010 Women of Influence.

 

Judy holds a BA and a Masters in Political Science from the University of Idaho and received her law degree from the University of Washington.

Phyllis Campbell is the Chairman, Pacific Northwest for JPMorgan Chase & Co. She serves on the Executive Committee and is the firm’s senior executive in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho across businesses, representing JPMorgan Chase & Co. at the most senior level to clients.

 

Previously, Phyllis was the President/CEO of The Seattle Foundation, the largest community foundation in Washington, with nearly $600 million in charitable assets. Prior to that, Phyllis served as President and CEO of U.S. Bank of Washington. Phyllis holds an M.B.A. from the University of Washington’s Executive MBA Program, and a B.A. in Business Administration from Washington State University. She is a graduate of both the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington and Stanford University’s Executive Management Program. Phyllis also holds honorary doctorates from Whitworth University and Gonzaga University.

 

Phyllis has devoted her time, energy, and expertise to countless civic activities with a focus on education and human services issues. She serves on the Board of Trustees of Seattle University. She has also chaired the boards of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Washington Business. She currently serves on the boards of Alaska Air Group, Nordstrom and Initiative for Global Development. She also serves on the Diversity Advisory Board for Toyota, North America. Phyllis has received many prestigious awards for her community service work, including the Woman Who Makes a Difference Award from the International Women’s Forum. In 2010, she received the Top Women in Finance Award from Women of Color Magazine. In 2006, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from City Year. She also received the Corporate Director of the Year Award from the Northwest Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Phyllis was also awarded the 36th Regents’ Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2006 from Washington State University.

Robbie Bach

Former President, Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft

Robbie Bach joined Microsoft in 1988 and over the next 22 years worked in various marketing, general management and business leadership roles. During that time, he played an important role in the successful launch and expansion of the Microsoft Office business and led the creation and development of the Xbox business. Robbie retired in 2010 as Microsoft’s President of the Entertainment and Devices Division.

In addition to his work at Microsoft, Bach serves on the national board of governors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and was the chairman of the board from 2009-10. He and his wife, Pauline, have also been board members of the local Bellevue Boys and Girls Club since 1999 and Robbie chaired that board from 2004-06. In 2011, he joined the US Olympic Committee board of directors, the board of directors for Sonos Inc., and the board of advisors for Space Needle, Inc.

 

Robbie now works as a Civic Engineer with corporate, philanthropic, and civic organizations who are driving positive change in our communities. He speaks, lectures, and teaches extensively including keynoting the Boe Forum on Public Affairs and guest lecturing at schools such as UCLA, University of North Carolina, Notre Dame, Boston College, Santa Clara University, Harvey Mudd, and Seattle University. In 2015, he completed his first book, Xbox Revisited: A Game Plan for Corporate and Civic Renewal. He’s also on the board of advisors for Brooks Running Company

 

Bach received an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of North Carolina where he graduated with highest honors and was a first team Academic All-American on the Tar Heel’s tennis team.

Roy M. Whitehead is the Chairman, President & CEO of Washington Federal, (NASDAQ: WAFD), a regional bank headquartered in Seattle.  He joined the company in 1998 and has been the CEO since 2000.  Prior to joining Washington Federal, he worked as President of Wells Fargo Bank of Colorado from 1993 to 1998.  Earlier experience includes serving as Tampa Bay Area President for First Union Corporation and thirteen years in Dallas, Texas with Texas American Bankshares and the Federal Reserve.

 

In addition to Year Up, current board positions include the United Way of King County, the Downtown Seattle Association, Washington Bankers Association, and the Washington Roundtable.  He is also the Chairman of the Seattle Community Development Roundtable.  In 2004, he was appointed By Chairman Alan Greenspan to serve a two year term as a member of the industry advisory council to the Federal Reserve Board, and in 2006 he was appointed by Chairman Ben Bernanke to serve as the council’s President.

 

Along with his wife, he founded Parker’s Fund, a foundation that provides scholarships for advanced teacher education. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU.

Sue Rahr

Director at Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission

Sue Rahr was the Sheriff of King County from 2005-2012. She was responsible for over 1,000 employees, a $150 million budget, and provided contract services to 12 cities and transit policing for the Seattle/Puget Sound region. She was elected Sheriff in 2005, led KCSO through successful CALEA National Accreditation in 2010, and was awarded “2010 Elected Official of the Year” by the Municipal League. She has worked tirelessly at the local, state, and national level on issues related to mentally ill offenders. She is the architect of the “Washington State Justice Based Policing Initiative” which will transform police officer training across the state. During her term as Sheriff, she served on many non-profit community and professional boards and held the following offices:

  • President – Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs
  • Commissioner – Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission
  • Commissioner – Washington State Forensics Investigation Council
  • Executive Board – National Sheriffs Association

 

She graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Criminal Justice from Washington State University and is a graduate of the National Sheriff’s Institute and the FBI National Executive Institute.

 

On March 31, 2012 she retired after 32 years of service with the King County Sheriff’s Office and on April 1, 2012 she was appointed as the Director of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. She will be responsible for the training of all local law enforcement and corrections officers in the state, as well as a variety of related criminal justice professions.

 

She was an Executive Fellow for The Police Foundation and served on the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing
