Earlier in his career Bob worked in the global business unit as Managing Director of the Australian Investor Services business and Chief Operating Officer of Asia Pacific. Colin Mahony leads the HP Software Big Data business group, which is responsible for the full portfolio of HP Software’s Big Data offerings of Information Analytics including Vertica and Autonomy IDOL, and Information Management & Governance. Prior to leading the Big Data business group, Colin was VP and General Manager of HP Vertica, where he guided the business to significant annual growth and recognized industry leadership. Colin brings a unique combination of technical knowledge, market intelligence, customer relationships, and strategic partnerships to one of the fastest growing and most exciting segments of HP Software.

 

Prior to Vertica, Colin was a Vice President at Bessemer Venture Partners focused on investments primarily in enterprise software, telecommunications, and digital media. He established a great network and reputation for assisting in the creation and ongoing operations of companies through his knowledge of technology, markets and general management in both small startups and larger companies. Prior to Bessemer, Colin worked at Lazard Technology Partners in a similar investor capacity.

 

Prior to his venture capital experience, Colin was a Senior Analyst at the Yankee Group serving as an industry analyst and consultant covering databases, BI, middleware, application servers and ERP systems. Colin helped build the ERP and Internet Computing Strategies practice at Yankee in the late nineties.

 

Colin earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degrees in Economics with a minor in Computer Science from Georgetown University. He is an active volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay and the Joey Fund for Cystic Fibrosis.

Elyse is an IT professional and active member of the Year Up alumni community. She graduated from Mystic Valley Regional Charter School in 2009. Throughout high school, she volunteered as a counselor at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club. She was working various retail jobs to save money for college when her mother told her about Year Up. Through the program, she earned an internship at Wellington Management in Quality Assurance. Immediately following her graduation from Year Up in July 2012, Elyse accepted a full-time job offer at Ropes & Gray for a position that was created especially for her.

Elyse currently serves as Co-Chair and Founder of the Year Up National Alumni Association and as a member of the Year Up Boston board.

She is a new mother, certified Microsoft Office Specialist, and will be pursuing part-time courses at Wentworth Institute of Technology to focus on her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.

Keith joins the Year Up Board of Directors after serving for 22 years as a senior leader at Raytheon Company, a $24 billion corporation with 61,000 employees. Over the last 12 years he was Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Security and participated in the four member operating committee which provided strategic direction and operational guidance for the corporation.

 

In his role at Raytheon he was responsible for architecting an integrated system of Leadership Development and succession planning that led to Raytheon being identified as one of the Top 25 Companies for Leaders globally. He worked to create a culture of Diversity and Inclusion that led to the acknowledgement of Raytheon as a best practice company and one that diverse employees would most likely seek to join. He and his team championed numerous industry pioneering Diversity efforts that shaped the culture and fostering equitable treatment for all.

 

Peden is an acknowledged leader known national for strategic thinking that leads to transformational organization change through the engagement of others in value based initiatives. Committed to lifelong learning and the development of others he started his career as a teacher and coach before a 35 year career in business. His business career saw him work with four multibillion dollar enterprises, including Lotus Development, Alexander & Alexander and Honeywell as well as Raytheon.

 

He is a member of the Board of Trustees for Wheaton College, Wentworth Institute of Technology and a past member of Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. The BASE is a model and methodology that changes the paradigm for urban youth by providing student athletes with the opportunity, knowledge, skills and confidence needed to develop a winning game plan for success both on and off the field.  The BASE embodies everything Robert learned as founder of the Boston Astros, a youth baseball team he launched in 1978.   Legendary baseball writer Peter Gammons has called The Astros, “Hands-down the best urban baseball program in the country,” and Triple Crown Sports awarded the Astros the 2012 “Team of the Year” award from a field of 40,000.

Stephanie Dodson

Stephanie Dodson became a Managing Director at Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation in September, 2014.  Draper Richards Kaplan believes that with early funding and rigorous support, exceptional social entrepreneurs, tackling some of the world’s most complex problems, can make the world a better place.

Prior to DRK, Stephanie was a fellow with Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative and was consulting to several different philanthropic and social entrepreneurial ventures.  She currently serves on the boards of RefugePoint, Year Up, Project Healthy Children and Partners In Health and also serves on the boards and advises six DRK portfolio organizations:  City Health Works, Clean Energy Trust, Crisis Text Line, D-Rev, Lava Mae, and Upstream.

Stephanie co-founded three social ventures:  Strategic Grant Partners, a venture capital model of consulting and philanthropic investing, works to create positive futures for children and families in Massachusetts and nationally; Project Healthy Children partners with developing countries to save lives through sustainable and measurable methods of food fortification and supplementation; and the Maranyundo Initiative, a boarding school for girls achieving the highest academic performance in the country and a teacher enrichment program in Rwanda.  Stephanie also worked in the computer industry at Tandem Computers.

She holds a BA in English and Environmental Studies from Oberlin College and an MBA from Stanford University and lives in Boston.

Mr. Nazzaro has over 29 years of experience at State Street. He began his career in 1986 and has held a wide variety of leadership roles across the accounting and operations divisions, servicing our mutual fund, mid-market pension and defined contribution business. In 2001, Mr. Nazzaro left State Street for two years to serve as a senior vice president and chief operating officer in Securities Finance at Brown Brothers Harriman and rejoined State Street in 2003 as a senior vice president and department head for Strategic Operations and Strategy.

 

Mr. Nazzaro sits on the board of Year Up, a nonprofit organization founded in 2000 and based in Boston, whose mission is to close the opportunity divide by providing urban young adults with the skills, experience and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education.  Steve is also a member of the board of Archbishop Williams High School.

Luis M. Echeverri has over 12 years of corporate experience. He spent the first part of his career in the insurance industry, transitioning later into the renewable energy and power sector.

He has hands-on experience in North America and Latin America settings, as well as in start-up, corporate, multinational, non-for-profit, academic, and board settings.

 

He currently works at Enel Green Power, Italian multinational in the renewable energy sector, where he holds the position of Director of Insurance Management. In this role, he leads the insurance unit and risk management of renewable energy plants across the United States and Canada.
