Although each open position is different, our application process is relatively consistent across roles and locations.  We want to learn more about you than just what’s on your resume. That’s why a “complete” application consists of both your resume and a thoughtful cover letter. Be aware that your candidacy may not be considered without both of these documents!  To express interest in a role, submit your application materials via our website.

You’ll notice a few opportunities to share additional information in our online application.

First, we love to hear about people’s connections to Year Up!  If you’ve been referred by one of our staff members, please note that in the appropriate field when applying.

Also, if you are interested in working in different functional roles or are open to relocating, there are opportunities for you to mention that when applying.  We’ll do our best to consider applicants across departments and sites so that we can find the best fit for both parties.

After you submit your online application

Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by a member of our team. If there’s a potential fit, a Year Up team member will reach out to schedule an initial phone interview. From there, our interview processes vary slightly by department and site, but will typically consist of an in-person meeting with the hiring manager, as well as interviews with several team members. Often, the final round of interviewing will include the local Executive Director or another member of our leadership team.  For certain roles, candidates may also have the opportunity to interview with several of our students. For instructional roles, you may be asked to guest teach a class.

What to expect when it comes to communication

We are fortunate to receive a high volume of applications, making it difficult to respond individually to each person.  Once you submit an application, you will receive an email notifying you that your materials have been received.  In the event that we’d like to interview you, someone from the appropriate hiring team will reach out to you directly.  We respectfully request no calls or emails inquiring about the status of your application.
